Check-Call-Care

No Breathing

Check the  scene for safety, if unsafe call 911 Check the  victim for life threatening conditions -  ABC's:
A - Airway Tilt the head and lift the chin (unless head injury)
B - Breathing look, listen and feel for breathing for 10 seconds, if not breathing, give 2 breaths
C - Circulation check the artery in the neck for 10 seconds as well as other signs of life

Call 911 and report your finding

Care for the victim until help arrives

Adult:
Perform
A-B-C Check Tilt head, lift chin 1 breath every 5 seconds, breaths should cause rib cage to move up and out after 24 breaths or 2 minutes, check circulation for  10 seconds, continue if
needed

Child/Infant:
Perform
A-B-C Check Tilt head, lift chin 1 breath every 3 seconds, breath should cause rib cage to move up and out after 40 breaths or 2 minutes, check circulation for 10  seconds, continue if needed

If the victim vomits, roll over and clear the mouth

Adult/Child:
(standing):
Ask "are you choking," if yes, give 5 back blows between the shoulder blades, from behind the victim, put your fists above the navel and thrust in and up 5 times until the victim can cough, speak or  breath unassisted

Infant: 5  back blows  between the shoulder blades (face down), 5 chest  thrusts between the nipples (face up) until the victim can breath unassisted

 

Unconscious

First Aid

Perform A-B-C Check Tilt head, lift chin; try to give breaths, if breaths won't go in, Perform A-B-C Check, if breaths still won't go in give 30 chest thrusts (between the nipples) and 2  breaths repeat until airway is clear and breaths go in

Perform A-B-C Check
If no pulse or breathing 30 Chest compressions (Adult: 1-1/2-2" deep, fast  rate Child 1-1-1/2" deep, infant 1/2-1" deep, rate) and 2  breaths, after 5 cycles check pulse and breaths, if no change, continue
Bleeding Control:
Provide direct pressure to control bleeding then bandage

Suspected broken bones, sprains and/or strains:
Allow victim to hold the limb themselves
Splint only if you need to move the victim and only if it doesn't cause any further injury/pain

Sudden Illness:
If  the victim suffers from any illness causing abnormal behavior
